Microsoft’s Garage team always comes up with some pretty cool apps. Recently, we reported about “Cache”, a new app from Microsoft Garage which essentially allows users to save images, documents, emails, website links, articles, etc. Cache is supposed to be available for Windows devices and iPhones after the public launch. Microsoft did, however, start allowing users to sign-up for the preview of Cache and it seems like the company recently started inviting some users to try the app out on their Windows devices. Today, a preview version of the app was leaked and everyone can download it — but you won’t be able to use it unless you were invited by Microsoft to try the app out.
Thankfully though, we’re able to try the app out today (thanks to Tom H.) on our Windows 10 PC, and here’s a quick first look at Microsoft’s Cache app.

A new build of Windows 10 has just been released to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring. The latest build of Windows 10, build 14951, is a fairly minor update from the last Windows 10 Insider Preview (build 14946). There are a couple of improvements in the latest build, though. With Build 14951, Microsoft is refining the new precision touchpad experience which was introduced recently — the company is letting users hook up keyboard shortcuts with the mouse gestures, and they have also updated the Reset button with some UI improvements.More importantly, the update includes some nice improvements for Windows Ink. In build 14951, users can now change the pen colour and width on Windows Ink without having to open the pen dropdown twice. The update also introduces a new feature called Stencils for Windows Ink which is described below:

Refining the customization experience for precision touchpad (PC): Since last week, we’ve continued working in this space, and have another set of improvements headed your way. To start with, we’ve hooked up our keyboard shortcut picker, so now if you choose that option on the Advanced gestures page, you’ll be presented a recorder so you can capture your favorite key combo – perhaps WIN + Alt + D or WIN + F to start with? Secondly, we’ve added a Change audio and volume option to the set of basic swipe gestures you can pick from. Finally, we’ve updated the reset button to now has a progress circle and display a check mark when it is finished. Both Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City have finally made there release on current gen platforms with the release of ‘Batman: Retu to Arkham’ today for Xbox One and PS4. The games are “fully remastered [with] updated” graphics, with all of the previously released DLC available right from the start for both games. You can also make Batman look like the Adam West version of his character or like the version from the Animated Series.
Of note is that some reviews of the title mention that the games are only ruing at 30 fps, and because of this the game sometimes lags and stutters. Also the colors pop, and are a tad brighter, in contrast to the dark and gloomy mood of the original titles. But if you can live with that, check out the game description below and the purchase link.

Sure the combat in South Park: The Stick of Truth was fun, but its tu-based combat wasn’t very strategic. In South Park: The Fractured But Whole.,you’ll be able to move your team members into position, using the environment to your advantage. With certain powers, you can even move your enemies into position. In addition, you can also manipulate time. Procedural generation of content has a long history. It basically means that parts of an application or a game are not hardcoded by a developer but are created by an algorithm on the fly. Minecraft and No Man’s Sky are two recent examples of what is possible today – giant worlds full of different textures, mountains, caves and objects are generated by AI (Artificial Intelligence) make the games an almost infinite place to discover. The game presented here is slightly simpler but uses 100% procedural generation as a base for the gameplay. “Who Dies?” is a 2D platformer with a simple goal: You’ll see a randomly generated world full of tiles, springs, spins, monsters and rocks and must guess which monster will get hit by a rock once gravity is tued on. For every right guess, you’ll get points and level upgrades.

WhatsApp has released a new update for its Windows Phone app to version 2.16.256.
The update is a mere 5 days after the last very large one, and does not bring new features, but does offer fixes and refinements to the app.
The last update, to version 2.16.140 brought OneDrive integration for backups, which essentially allows users to back up their chat history and messages, which they can restore after resetting their phone or getting a new phone, along with support for GIFs and also an improved set of emojis.

Natwest has updated their Windows Phone 8 app to version 5.5.5942.27121.
The app lets you:
Check your balances, transactions and transfer money between your NatWest accounts
Manage Direct Debits and standing orders
Transfer up to £250 to any UK account using a sort code and account number
Make bill payments by searching for approved utility and service providers when entering a payee name
Get Cash at any NatWest, RBS or Tesco cash machine using your app when you do not have your debit card
As a Personal customer you can Pay Your Contacts who use the app or any mobile number which is registered for the Paym service

HP’s Elite x3 may be the continuum handset to beat tight now, but Acer’s Jade Primo suddenly just got a whole lot more compelling if the Microsoft Store pricing is currently being honored.
On the UK Microsoft Store, the Windows 10 flagship is now being sold for considerably less than the £449 it commands on Acer’s online store, clocking in at a respectably cheap £199.
For that price, you’re getting a whole lot of phone. You’ll be getting a 5.5 inch 1080p AMOLED screen. Now, while that’ s not as good as the Lumia 950 is – at least on paper – it’s worth noting that 5.5-inch 1080p screens can still be very good – even the iPhone plus models use them. It also comes with a snapdragon 808 processor and 3 GB of RAM, which means it can handle continuum fairly decently as well as mundane day to day tasks. 32GB of inteal storage ~(expandable via Micro SD)and a 21MP camera round out the specs of this upper mid-range business focused device.

Microsoft Research has demonstrated a new mechanically-actuated hand-held controllers that render the shape of virtual objects through physical shape displacement, enabling users to feel 3D surfaces, textures, and forces that match the visual rendering.
They have published the results of their investigations in the Proceedings of the 29th Aual Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology and demonstrate two such controllers, NormalTouch and TextureTouch, which are tracked in 3D and produce spatially-registered haptic feedback to a user’s finger.
NormalTouch haptically renders object surfaces and provides force feedback using a tiltable and extrudable platform. TextureTouch renders the shape of virtual objects including detailed surface structure through a 4×4 matrix of actuated pins.
By moving the controllers around while keeping your finger on the actuated platform, users are able to obtain the impression of a much larger 3D shape.

One of the coolest features on the HP Elite x3 is HP Workspace, a virtualized environment which allows users to run full Win32 apps on the device via Continuum for phones. On the HP Elite x3, users can use the HP Desk Dock or Lap Dock for Continuum for phones.
HP has been selling the HP Elite x3 for more than a month now, but the company never revealed the pricing of its Workspace service publicly. Today, Engadget revealed the pricing details of the HP Workspace, which claims that the pricing for the service starts at $49 per month for one user. By paying $49 per month, you will be able to get 4GB of RAM — however, you can only run 10 apps and have 40 hours of usage only. If that isn’t enough for you, you can go for the Premium plan which starts at $79 a month and offers 8GB of RAM, unlimited apps and 80 hours of usage.

Microsoft has now invested over $3 billion across Europe to date and over $10 billion worldwide. Usually, Microsoft orders the server hardware from its ODM partners and the ODM partners choose the component suppliers. Today, Digitimes reported that Microsoft is now picking component suppliers directly to ensure quality. Apart from improved quality, Microsoft will be able to reduce its costs by having component suppliers to compete for orders.
As per the report, Microsoft has begun appointing suppliers for components including cooling modules, chassis and slide rails. Microsoft has established an inteal team for component evaluation to retrieve the purchasing right for its server components.

Facebook has found an iovative solution for the issues their Windows 10 Mobile Universal apps are having.
The official Facebook and Messenger apps for Windows 10 Mobile, which are coded in Facebook’s own cross-platform language, has been having some issues, including being slow and unresponsive at times, not responding to touch at all or crashing.
Now Facebook has updated the minimum requirements for the app, demanding at least 2 GB of RAM.
Of course for Lumia 950 owners this is not an issue at all, but for many mid-range handsets upgraded to Windows 10 this will be a particular problem, and some handsets like the Lumia 550 and Lumia 650 which are still relatively new will not have access to this foundational smartphone application.
Thankfully for now users with less than 2 GB RAM are still able to download and install the app, but are now no longer able to review it.
Hopefully the issue is temporary and Facebook intends to optimise the apps in the near future.

Microsoft may not offer much customisation for its Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 PC lock screens, but that doesn’t stop third-party app developers from picking up the slack. While typically many of the decent apps for customizing your lockscreen like LockMix and Lockie are still older Windows Phone 8 and/or Windows Phone 8.1 apps, Win Screens is one of the newer ones built for Windows 10 – and as such works on PCs. tablets and phones.

Microsoft has recently aounced the public preview of V2 version of Azure Active Directory PowerShell cmdlets. It includes several new capabilties and it will be provided through the new AzureAD PowerShell Module. Azure AD team is also working on making all functionality of the old MSOL module available in the new module.
One of the key features of the new module is a close alignment of the PowerShell functionality with the Graph API capabilities. We are also moving towards a faster and more agile release process for new or updated functionality of these cmdlets.
The new PowerShell cmdlets already provide more functionality in several areas, most notably for Mode Authentication and MFA, and includes new management capabilities for Applications and Certificate Authority through PowerShell.

Forza Horizon 3 just got a patch last week, but that’s not stopping the team from launching another one so soon. This week’s patch for the game also has the same primary theme as last week’s: fixing up performance issues on the Windows 10 version of the game. It’ll start rolling out at 7PM Pacific Time, so set your clocks.

The most important part of tonight’s patch is the stability improvements. The fixes range from odd issues – like the game crashing if you enabled your microphone but didn’t have a speech pack installed – to much larger ones, like hardware specific issues that would break the game. One of the most user requested features in Windows 10 Mobile is the ability to change default apps, and with Microsoft’s last insider update, it seems the firm may have taken a step towards that.
Microsoft’s Edge app now features a setting which – in theory – should allow you to select your default web app. Of course, the option doesn’t do much now.
There’s a possibility that due to the code sharing between Edge and Edge Mobile, that could simply be a UI glitch as the same option exists in the desktop app. On the other hand, there is precedence for Microsoft allowing users to change at least some of their default apps. In Windows Phone 8 Update 2, Microsoft introduced a closed off api that allowed OEMs to swap out default apps like the camera and messaging apps. While traditionally only Nokia’s Lumia line took advantage of this at first with their Lumia Camera and Messaging + RCS apps, LG and Samsung joined in as well, with the LG Camera and Ativ Camera apps respect

Last month, we reported that Salesforce has raised its conces on Microsoft’s proposed LinkedIn acquisition. Salesforce chief legal officer Burke Norton said that Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of LinkedIn threatens the future of iovation and competition. According to data from industry-tracking firm The NPD Group, Microsoft’s Xbox sales were ahead of Sony PS4 sales in the month of September. Thanks to the aggressive pricing and new Xbox One S bundles, Xbox has beaten out the PlayStation 4 in terms of units sold for three months in a row. Microsoft also highlighted that Xbox One was the best-selling console in the U.K. according to GfK Entertainment UK. In addition, Xbox One was the only gen eight console to see year-over-year growth in September in the U.S., Australia, the U.K., and many other countries worldwide.

SwiftKey has now added support for multilingual typing in up to five languages simultaneously on SwiftKey for Android. You can switch seamlessly between Swedish, Serbian, French, English and Azerbaijani if you’re so inclined!.
The update comes after SwiftKey revealed that more than 20% of its users type in French, German, Spanish or a combination of one of these languages partnered with another language; 38.1% have more than one language enabled; and 9.8% have three languages enabled.
Our commitment to supporting and celebrating multilingualism is evident in our work to offer over 125 languages and the ability to type in up to three languages simultaneously, but being able to offer this new capability of five languages at once really takes SwiftKey Keyboard to the next level.

HP today aounced ENVY AIO 27, its latest All-in-One with a near borderless Technicolor Color Certified HD display that floats over an integrated four speaker sound bar tuned by Bang & Olufsen.
HP has moved the computing power into the base which has reduced the 27-inch diagonal QHD display thickness by 44 percent for a 15mm thin. The base includes an iovative sound bar with four speakers tuned by Bang & Olufsen to provide theatre-like sound quality and an audio dial that allows for easy touch control. The 3.6 million pixel screen resolution with Technicolor Color Certification helps ensure high accuracy colors when watching videos or creating and editing content. Also, the display features low blue light mode for improved eye comfort and a better night’s sleep. To safeguard privacy, the ENVY AIO 27 offers a HP Privacy Camera with IR support (Windows Hello certified) and a microphone that is hidden when not in use.

The physical Microsoft Stores in the United States started selling the HP Elite x3 earlier this week. Today, Microsoft has finally started taking pre-orders for the HP Elite x3’s Lap Dock online. The Microsoft Store is selling the device for a hefty $599, and it’ll be released on the 14th of November.
For those unfamiliar, HP’s Lap Dock is basically a portable monitor for Continuum on the Elite x3. HP Elite x3 owners can use Continuum wirelessly on the Lap Dock, which is pretty neat. The Lap Dock also comes with a full-sized keyboard (backlit and spill-resistant) and mouse. As for the display, you’ll get a 12.5-inch Full HD panel on the HP Lap Dock. HP has also included the Bang & Olufsen stereo speakers in the Lap Dock, and there’s also a headphone jack. Additionally, HP has included a 46.5 WHr battery on the Desk Dock. Lastly, HP says the Lap Dock weighs only 1kg.
Keep in mind that you’ll have to buy the HP Elite x3 separately, which costs $799 (with the Desk Dock)

HP introduced quite a lot of new products today for Holiday 2016. Along with the HP Envy 27 AIO, the company has also introduced the HP Envy 27 Display — its latest 4K monitor. HP’s Envy 27 features a 27-inch 4K IPS panel with a micro-edge bezel, support for AMD FreeSync, and more:
The HP ENVY 27 Display leverages a contemporary design featuring a thin aluminum stand that enhances the floating display experience of the 27-inch diagonal 4K IPS panel with a micro-edge bezel. AMD FreeSyncTM support reduces the image tears and stutters that can appear on lesser displays. Its sRGB color accuracy exceeds 99 percent, making sure today’s 4K content look breathtaking. The versatile coectivity includes Display Port, HDMI and USB-C, which can also charge your PC or mobile device with up to 60 watts of power.

Iconic side-scroller Cuphead, which was first shown at E3 2014, is an indie title was heading to the Xbox one.
The game features a 1930’s cartoon artistic style and was meant to debut in 2016.
Now Studio MDHR revealed that the title has been delayed even further, saying that “throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact.”
The title is now only expected in 2017, with Studio MDHR saying:
“We are happy to aounce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017.”
